Standing editorial standard · v2026.1
Editorial standards
Modern Business Travel publishes against this standing editorial standard. The standard is versioned, dated, and revised through the corrections log. The current version is v2026.1, effective 2026-06-01.
Independence
MBT is editorially independent. The desk does not accept hosted travel, room nights, complimentary lounge access, or sponsored access to chauffeur operators in exchange for coverage. Reviews are paid at standard published rates or redeemed using points or cash priced at the time of the brief.
Sourcing
Briefs are sourced from primary documents (Cirium, GBTA, BLS, IATA, SEC filings), named industry analysts, and operator-published material. Anonymous sources are used only where the source's role is described and the desk has corroborating documentation. The reasons for any anonymity are stated inline.
Byline convention
Briefs carry the name and title of the desk editor responsible for the piece. The desk does not maintain author profile pages, third-party social-handle attribution, or contributor biographies. The publishing entity (MBT Editorial LLC) is the institutional byline; the named editor is the desk-level byline.
Conflicts of interest
Editors disclose prior employment, consulting work, or material relationships with any operator, program, or property profiled in their briefs. Disclosure runs inline, not in a footnote.
Corrections workflow
- Errors are corrected in place. The corrected version replaces the original.
- The change is logged at /corrections/ with the date and the nature of the correction.
- If the correction changes the verdict or framing of the brief, it is reissued with a "Reissued" label and a new dateModified.
- Significant corrections are surfaced in the JSON Feed and RSS feed metadata so syndicated consumers can re-index the affected piece.
What MBT will not publish
- Invented operator names, brand-fronts, or sales channels.
- Unverifiable specifications, rates, or fleet figures presented as facts.
- Sponsored content disguised as editorial. Native advertising is not part of the revenue model.
- Rankings driven by referral compensation. The desk does not maintain affiliate relationships with operators, programs, or properties profiled.
- "Best of" verdicts where the desk has not done the work to support the verdict. Where the desk lacks first-hand experience, the brief states so.
AI and automation
The desk uses automation for transcript handling, data assembly, and routine formatting. Generative-AI text is not published as desk copy without editorial rewriting. Where AI was used to assemble underlying material, the desk reviews and validates every fact against the source.
Changelog
- v2026.1 (2026-06-01): Initial standing standard published. Codifies independence, sourcing, byline convention, corrections workflow, and non-publish list. Replaces the prior informal practice with a versioned document.
